2009-2010 Scholarship Campaign
Yes, invest $25 and help save $292,000.
$292,000 is the average cost to taxpayers over the working life of each high school dropout (1). We have 60,000 adults in our community in this category. Do the math.
- Dropouts earn a small fraction of high school or college graduates.
- Dropouts are far more likely to be on welfare.
- Dropouts ae far more likely to be in prison.
- Dropouts incur four times the annual health care costs.
Thanks to your generosity, Trident Literacy Association is quickly closing the gap.

Your kindness last year helped Trident Literacy Association as we
- kept six very busy sites open
- helped 2,500 adults improve their reading and math skills
- prepared students for the GED or WorkKeys certification exam
- taught English as a Second Language
- developed computer skills to improve work opportunities
The annual fee to attend Trident Literacy is $25 per student. Yet last year, 80 percent of our students were unable to pay.
And we did NOT turn them away.
Now, our enrollment has increased substantially in this sagging economy.
We’re asking you to please consider donating $25 or more to our Scholarship Fund to provide scholarships for these eager and deserving students so they can have a successful future.
Please make your tax-deductible check payable to Trident Literacy Association
We are deeply grateful for your support.
Sincerely,
Eileen Chepenik,
Executive Director
